NEVEN VRČEK

Full Prof. PhD

Neven Vrček is researcher, lecturer and former dean at University of Zagreb, Faculty of Organization and Informatics, Croatia (UNIZG-FOI). His areas of academic and professional interest are e-business, e-government, information society development, organizational performance measurement and software engineering.

He is author of more than eighty scientific papers and several books. As a mentor, he successfully advised fifteen PhD candidates and led several scientific projects. Beside academic record, he participated and led numerous professional projects in domains of his interest such as development of national interoperability framework, development of e-business strategy, implementation of balanced scorecard, development of national e-invoicing infrastructure, etc.

He is a member of several professional and academic associations. In the period from 2005 to 2014, he was editor of Journal of Organizational and Information Sciences. He was head of doctoral program Information Sciences at UNIZG-FOI, head of postgraduate program Public administration, member of auditing board of Croatian national bank and member of scientific boards of several journals and conferences. He is also an Advisory Committee representative of University of Zagreb, Faculty of Organization and Informatics at W3C.

RENATA MEKOVEC

Full Prof. PhD

Renata Mekovec associate professor at the University of Zagreb, at the Faculty of organization and informatics Varaždin. She is a member of Department for information system development and Department of computing and technology.

Teaching courses: Office information systems, Information service management, Privacy protection in business systems.

Luka Milić is a teaching assistant at undergraduate and graduate studies of Faculty of Organization and Informatics, and also a PhD candidate at Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing.

KARL S. GUDMUNSSON

PROFESSOR

Karl S. Gudmundsson (Ph.D.) graduated from the Marine Engineering College of Iceland in 1984.

He received his B.S. and M.S. degree in computer engineering 1996 and 1998 and his Ph.D in Engineering with electrical engineering concentration from Wright State University 2004.

He was project manager with the research and development company Tern Systems Inc. from 1998 until 2001.

His research interests include theoretical and experimental, optical signal/image processing, classification, and tracking, optical computing algorithms and architectures. Intelligent sensor systems, digital systems design, digital signal/image processing, classification, and tracking.

NIKOLA IVKOVIĆ

Assoc. Prof. PhD

Nikola Ivković received the MS degree in Computing and the PhD degree in Computer Science from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, University of Zagreb.

He is the head of Department of Computing and Technology at the Faculty of Organization and Informatics, University of Zagreb.

He teaches Computer Networks, Operating Systems, and Computer Architecture related courses. He serves as a regular reviewer for high quality (Q1 and Q2) scientific journals and takes part in a number of international conference committees.

His research interests include computational intelligence and optimization, computer networks, formal methods, operating systems, and parallel programming.

SANDRO GERIĆ

Sandro Geric is Associate professor at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Organization and Informatics (Department for Information Systems Development) holding courses in Electronic and Mobile Commerce (eBusiness), Customer Relationship Management and Information System Security. He holds a PhD in information and communication sciences.

His scientific work includes active participation on several (international) scientific projects, and research and commercial projects involving information system development, interoperability based research, information system security and CRM implementation.

He is author of more than 50 chapters, scientific and professional papers, and he regularly holds presentations and invited lectures at many international conferences.

Ivan Magdalenić works as an associate professor at the Faculty of Organization and Informatics. He is the teacher of several courses in the field of computer science.

MARKO MIJAČ

PhD

Marko Mijač (scientist number 348951) is a teaching assistant and a PhD candidate at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of organization and informatics, Varaždin. He is a member of Department for Information Systems Development. Before joining faculty, he worked as a software developer on developing production information system in Boxmark Leather d.o.o., as well as on other smaller projects. He currently teaches in the following courses: Software engineering, Business Information Systems, and Geographical Information Systems.

His area of interest is a broad field of software engineering and information systems development. In particular, he is interested in reusability approaches and techniques in software development, such as: software architecture, design patterns, and software frameworks. Currently he is focusing on finishing his PhD thesis on software frameworks.

During his work at the faculty, he participated in numerous projects, such as: Development and maintenance of KI expert – software for calculating energy needs and properties of buildings; MEDINFO

MARKUS SCHATTEN

Full Prof. PhD

Markus Schatten is an associate professor and the head of the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at the Faculty of Organization and Informatics, University of Zagreb. He has defended his PhD thesis in the field of information and communication sciences, has a master thesis in information sciences and a diploma in information systems. He authored over 80 scientific and professional papers and two books.

He is holding lectures on all university degrees (bachelor, master, specialist, doctoral) in the fields of database systems, semantic modeling, programming and artificial intelligence. His field of research includes artificial intelligence and its application to various domains including but not limited to multiagent systems, virtual assiszants, computer games, the Internet of Everything, social web mining and autopoiesis theory.

He has participated in about 15 scientific and professional projects including a few international ones (FP7, COST, Erasmus+).

He lead a scientific installation project (ModelMMORPG Large-scale Multi-agent Modeling of Massively Multi-player on-line Role Playing Games), is currently leading a research project (O_HAI④Games – Orchestration of Hybrid Artificial Intelligence Methods for Computer Games) both sponsored by the Croatian Science Foundation and was leading a number of grants sponsored by the University of Zagreb under which the grant UAVTraffic – Multi-agent based Traffic Control of Autonomous Unmanned Aerial Vehicles.

ZLATKO STAPIĆ

Assoc. Prof. PhD

Zlatko is an assistant professor and research associate at the Department of Information System Development and a Head of Laboratory for Applied Software Engineering at the Faculty of Organization and Informatics.

He is codirector for Software Engineering and Software Analysis and Development courses. Zlatko also manages Group for development and transfer of mobile technologies.

Scientific and professional interests include software engineering, approaches and methodologies in software development, development for mobile and smart devices and application of theory in practice.

Zlatko was leading or participating in more than 20 scientific and professional projects and has published more than 50 scientific and professional papers.

In his work at Faculty he puts special attention in collaboration with industry and to give students the possibility to work on projects. He received several awards for his work and achievements.

BORIS TOMAŠ

ASST. PROF. PHD

Boris is an assistant professor and research associate at the Department of Information System Development at the Faculty of Organization and Informatics. His academic assignments at Faculty are laboratory course lectures for: Embedded Software Development, Software Engineering and Energy efficient connected objects courses. He also manages Internet of Things Laboratory.

Fields of interest are: software development, internet of things, mobile and embedded development, wireless networking, light communication.

During his career he worked on several international and national commercial and science projects. For his academic and professional achievements, he has received two Faculty Dean’s awards, Rotary Club Excellence Award, University Rector’s Award.

MARIO ŠERCER

PHD

Mario Šercer was born in Croatia on June 18, 1970.

He studied mechanical engineering in Zagreb and afterwards went to Germany where he initially worked as a mechanical engineer and later as head of the technical office. His tasks were the development of the construction of biomass furnaces and plants as well as project management.

In 2002 he returned to Croatia and continued to work as a development and construction engineer and as a technical consultant. At the same time he studied economics and earned his PhD.

He is a court interpreter and translator for the German language and also works as an external associate at the Polytechnic of Međimurje in Čakovec.

Since 2019 he is a director of the Development and Educational Centre for the Metal Industry – Metal Čakovec.

LOVRO POSARIĆ

M. Inf.

Lovro Posarić is an assistant at the Faculty of organization and informatics on subjects related to Internet of Things and networked organizations. He is a member of Department of Information System Development. As a student, he has been employed on the position of young researcher in the IoT Laboratory where he’s continued working on the ORKAN project. His fields of interest include Internet of Things, software engineering and development, as well as radio communication and localization based on radio signal.

Ahmed Shareef works as a research assistant at the Faculty of Organization and Informatics. He works as a project assistant for ORKAN.

Snježana Križanić is a teaching assistant at the Faculty of Organization and Informatics in Varaždin on subjects related to process oriented applications and digital business. She is a member of the Department of Information Systems Development. Her areas of interest are the Internet of Things, digital twins and business process modeling.

ELVIS POPOVIĆ

Elvis Popović is an assistant at the Faculty of Organisation and Informatics on computer networks, the Internet of Things, computational intelligence, and operating systems. He is a Department of Computing and Technology member but also participates in joint projects with the Department of Information Systems Development members.

His fields of interest include numerical computations, optimization algorithms, computational intelligence, and bio-inspired algorithms.

In addition, he deals with drone technology, and electronic telecommunications and is an expert in 3D computer visualization and video technology.
